Obituary for Timothy T. Gunther

Firefighter Timothy T. Gunther, 54, a lifelong Hudson Valley resident, died on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
Born in Hoboken, NJ on June 22, 1960, he was the son of Thomas Anthony and Lydia Spertal Gunther of Hopewell Junction. Tim graduated from John Jay High School in 1978, SUNY Albany in 1982 and SUNY New Paltz in 1992. Tim was a firefighter with the City of Poughkeepsie Fire Department for the last 21 years. He was a Hudson Valley Playwright. An avid Bruce Springsteen fan, he also loved the New York Yankees, everything Disney, golfing, gambling, lifting weights and running track.

On August 4, 1990 at St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction, Tim married Christine Buechele who survives at home. In addition to his wife and parents, he is also survived by his children, Casey Gunther of Poughkeepsie, and Tess Gunther of Poughquag; his beloved dogs, Duke, Gus and Jaxx; his sisters, Jude Flint and Alida Fenton, and their husbands; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 2-7pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 10:30am at the Mid Hudson Civic Center, 14 Civic Center Plaza, Poughkeepsie with full fire department honors. Mustaches are optional, but encouraged.
