Donald Grossman
Donald Grossman, 76, a lifelong area resident, died unexpectedly at home on October 27, 2015.
Born in Wappingers Falls on April 18, 1939, he was the son of the late Donald Grossman and Rita DiPalma. He had been employed as a pressman by Western Publishing in Poughkeepsie for over 25 years. He then retired as Facility Maintenance Director for the Wappingers Central School District.
Donald was a member of the Whortlekill Rod and Gun Club and Amature Trap Shooting Association, and a life member of the Southern Dutchess and Putnam Sportsmen Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing at Sylvan Lake, racing cars and motorcycles, and cheering on the Yankees and Jets.
He is survived by his children and their spouses, Donald Scott and Linda Grossman, Sr. of Wappingers Falls, Craig F. and Heather Grossman of Salisbury, NC, and Jeanette and Donald Lee of Poughkeepsie; his longtime companion, Lynne Cross; his grandchildren, Donald Scott “DJ” Grossman, Jr. and his wife Briana and Corey John Grossman; his step-great grandson, Aiden Sickler; his brother, Francis Jason DiPalma and his husband Michael Brewer of Naples, FL; and Lynne’s children and their families, Suzanne, Edward, Ryan and Conor Kelly, and Michael, Nicole, Michael and Matthew Cross. Donald was looking forward to the arrival of his great-granddaughter in April 2016.
A memorial service will be held at the Whortlekill Rod & Gun Club at the convenience of the family.
