Lewis proudly served our country in the US Army. He was a member of the Manny Bacon Post #1758, American Legion and the Marist Red Fox Club. He volunteered over 5,000 hours at Castle Point VAMC, driving veterans and as a wheelchair escort. He was also proud to have donated over 115 pints of blood in his lifetime.

Lewis was an avid reader, enjoying history and biographies, and he amassed a large collection of books. Lewis and Ann visited many of our National Parks and Battlefields, and enjoyed traveling internationally. They also volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, and helped Jimmy Carter build 30 homes on an Indian Reservation in a week in Eagle Butte, South Dakota. He also enjoyed bowling, golfing and dancing the Polka.

In addition to his wife, Lewis is survived by his children, Lewis J. Rompala and wife Lisa of Spicewood, TX, Walter J.
