Obituary for
John James "Jiggs" Favilla
John J. “Jiggs” Favilla, of Fishkill, died on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. He was 82.
Son of the late James and Rose (Ferravante) Favilla, he was born in New Rochelle on April 11, 1936. On June 8, 1957, he married Elaine B. Pinella in New Rochelle.
John had previously resided in Carrollton, TX, Belen, NM, and Peekskill. He and Elaine relocated to Fishkill in 2015.
He worked as an electrician and was a member of the I.B.E.W. for 50 years, retiring in 1998. He also belonged to the Ravens Social Club (Westchester County) and the Moose Lodge. Jiggs was a Civil War buff and always enjoyed watching old films in black & white. More than anything else, he cherished spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine, at home in Fishkill; his son, John Steven Favilla of Fishkill; his daughter, Cheryl van den Bergh & her husband Tom of Hopewell Junction; his daughter, Bonnie Neumann & her husband Richard of Dallas, TX; his grandchildren, Heather van den Bergh (Craig) of Beacon, Melissa Coyle (Michael) of Hopewell Junction, Jacqueline van den Bergh of Dublin, Ireland, Natalie Neumann of Oxford, England, Nicole Neumann (Robin) of Hannover, Germany, and Michelle Neumann of London, England; his great-grandchildren, Carter Coyle, Madilyn Coyle, and Vincent Albrecht; his brother, Louis Favilla of Virginia; his nephew, Kevin Favilla (Jaroa) of Virginia; and his great-niece, Hailey Favilla; also many other loving relatives & friends.
In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Marie Julia and Joseph Rothstein, as well as his sister-in-law, Rose Marie Favilla.
Services are private and at the convenience of the family.
