Obituary for Patricia A. "Pat" Zahradnik (Nelligan)

Patricia A. Zahradnik, 80, a lifelong resident of the Hudson Valley, died on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at the Baptist Home in Rhinebeck.

Born in Sharon, CT on May 16, 1935, she was the daughter of Thomas and Jean Denzig Nelligan. Pat had been employed as a teaching assistant for the Wappingers Central School District for many years. She was a parishioner of St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction and volunteered at St. Mary’s School in Fishkill.

On April 18, 1959 at Holy Trinity Church in Poughkeepsie, Pat married Bernard Zahradnik who predeceased her on February 6, 2007. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Rich Zahradnik and his wife Sheri Roder of Pelham, Tom Zahradnik and his wife Cathleen of Poughkeepsie, Julie Zahradnik Bramley of Utica, Mary Mathias and her husband Tony of Palatine, IL, and Bob Zahradnik and his wife Jennifer of Washington, DC; her sister, Brenda Murphy and her husband John J. Murphy Jr. of Chicago, IL; her grandchildren: Patrick Zahradnik; Jonathan, Alyssa and Christina Zahradnik; David and Claire Bramley; Madeline, Harrison, Jackson and Katherine Mathias; William, Charlotte and Daniel Zahradnik; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday at 10am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery.
