Guenter J. Szczuka, 77, a resident of Hopewell Junction for 31 years and previously of New Rochelle, died on Sunday July 23, 2017.
Born on January 22,1940 in Germany, Guenter was the son of Heinrich and Angela (Baron) Szczuka. On September 2, 1961 at Blessed Sacrament in New Rochelle, Guenter married the love of his life Vera Bane who survives at home.
Guenter was employed by Jelenko in Armonk as an Alloy Technician for over 30 years. He was a very active parishioner of St. Denis Church and loved soccer and hockey. He will always be remembered as a good cook and family man.
In addition to his wife, Guenter is survived by his children, Heidi Daniele and her husband Frank of Red Hook, Karen Teich of Wappinger Falls, Peter Szczuka and his wife Maribel of Fishkill; his grandchildren, Veronica Galucci and her husband Mike of Wappingers Falls, Mitchell Resk of Chicago, Kelly Mercado and her husband Jonathan of Texas, Korey Szczuka of Poughkeepsie, Peter Szczuka of Fishkill, Noah Teich of Wappingers Falls, and Hannah Teich of Wappingers Falls; his great grandchildren, Willa Galucci, Adam Galucci, Jacen Mercado and Bella Mercado; his sister, Christine Woroschinski of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at 9:45am at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction. Interment will be private.
