Vincent J. Aquilino, of Rockville Centre, and formerly of Poughkeepsie, LaGrangeville and Staten Island, died on February 10, 2018 at the Jewish Home Life Care, 2 days short of his 95th birthday.

Born in the Bronx on February 12, 1923, he was the son of Godfrey and Marie (Marino) Aquilino. Vincent proudly served our country in the US Army during World War II. On June 6, 1944, he was part of the Invasion of Normandy. He then participated, endured, and survived the greatest land battle, The Battle of the Bulge, ever fought and won by the US Army from December 16, 1944 through January 25, 1945. In 2007, he revisited France with his son and grandson, and was welcomed as an American hero. He was a former member of the American Legion in Brooklyn.

On January 18, 1947 at St. Catherine of Alexandria Church in Brooklyn, Vincent married the love of his life, Santa (Luca) who predeceased him on February 6, 2002. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Godfrey and Bonnie Aquilino of Manhattan; his daughter, Santa Ottiano of Kingston; 7 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Mary Gerrity, Ida Lipinski and Eleanor Savarese.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 11 at the funeral home followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery with military honors.
