Obituary for Edmond C. Modugno

WAPPINGERS FALLS – Edmond C. Modugno died on March 7, 2018 just two weeks shy of his 71st birthday at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. An area resident for 25 years, he previously lived in Cortlandt Manor.

Born in New York City on March 26, 1947, he was the son of the late Edmond and Esther (DeVito) Modugno. Edmond proudly served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans #144 at Castle Point VA Medical Center and a member of the American Legion Manny Bacon Post 1758.

He retired as a police officer from the New York Police Department in 1989. He then worked as a court officer for Judge Fox at the US District Court for the Southern District of New York for 15 years.

On August 23, 1969 in the Bronx, he married Patricia (Dowd) Modugno who survives at home. He is also survived by his sons, Christopher Modugno, Sr. and his wife Trisha of Wappingers Falls and Michael Modugno and his partner Marilyn Perez of Fishkill; his grandsons, to whom he was a devoted and loving grandfather to, Christopher Modugno, Jr. and Patrick J. Modugno; his siblings, Lee Modugno and husband Paris Vacaloupoulas, Camela Sholders, and Rita Rega; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was also predeceased by his sister, Theresa Rodriguez.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Man Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday at 11:30 am at St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill followed by burial at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Putnam Valley.
