Obituary for Ralph J. Ruggiero

FISHKILL – Ralph J. Ruggiero, a 50 year local area resident, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 4, 2018. He was 89.
Son of the late August and Philomena (Forte) Ruggiero, he was born in the Bronx on November 16, 1928. Ralph was a proud U.S. Army Veteran who served in the infantry during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged from his service in 1952.
He was a member of the Local #38 Sheet Metal Workers Union (Brewster) for over 50 years. He was a parishioner of St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill and lifelong New York Yankees fan. Ralph enjoyed gardening and animals and frequented the Town of Fishkill Senior Center. Above all else, he cherished spending time with his family, and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
On June 14, 1953, he married Grace Mastropolo at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in the Bronx. Grace survives at home in Fishkill.
Additional survivors include his daughter, Marie Obee of Poughkeepsie; his son, Ralph Ruggiero & his wife Doreen of Wappingers Falls; his daughter, Valerie Ruggiero of Fishkill; his grandchildren, Grace, Duncan, Loretta, and John Obee; and many other relatives & friends.
In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by several siblings, Joseph Ruggiero, Lena Ruggiero Osie, Anthony Ruggiero, Josie Ruggiero Schettino, Frank Ruggiero, and Paul Ruggiero; and his son-in-law, Duncan Obee.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 8th at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 9th at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill. Interment will follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
