Obituary for Stephen E. Mench

“Always and Forever” captures the love between Steve and Diane Mench.

On May 15, 2018 Stephen E. Mench lost his battle with MDS at New York Presbyterian Hospital in New York City.

Steve was born on February 7, 1959 in Dover, Delaware to Edwin and Margaret Mench who predeceased him.

Steve was an amazing husband, loving brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. He was “TT” and “Uncle Steve” to the little ones he loved so much.

Steve graduated RIT and worked for IBM as an Industrial Engineer and Financial Planner. His career took him to many places, including Japan, Hong Kong, Belgium, France, Spain and England.

One of the things that defined Steve was his avid love for the Red Sox and the New England Patriots. Steve enjoyed cooking and loved exploring wines. He took several classes at the Culinary Institute of American in Hyde Park to hone his craft.

Steve’s wife of 26 years, Diane, will continue their love of family and friends. Steve is also survived by his sister Rosemary and brother-in-law Jeff Gaynier; sister Andrea Mench-Nixon; step-mom Marion Mench; and aunt Mary Mench. Always considered a son and brother, Steve was loved by his in-laws Frank and Ursula Sonnenberg, Teri Odell, Susan and Jeff Bonanno, Debra and Chris Cosgrave, and Paul and Janeen Sonnenberg. Steve’s many nephews, nieces, grand-nephew and grand-niece will miss his smile, hugs and love.

Services for Steve will be private.
