Obituary for Thomas P. Short

WAPPINGERS FALLS - Thomas P. Short, 73, died on May 20, 2018 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He previously lived in Fishkill and Roebling, NJ.

Born in Philadelphia on October 5, 1944, he was the son of Theodore and Dorothy Dydek (Helmer) and Leo Short. He proudly served our country in the US Air Force during the Korean War. Tom had been employed as an Engineer with IBM in East Fishkill for 30 years until his retirement in 2000. He was a parishioner of St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction. He was a member of St. Mary's Council #4065,Knights of Columbus and a Fourth Degree member of the Pope John Paul II Assembly #2917. He enjoyed gardening and fishing, but more than anything, he loved his grandchildren.

On June 14, 1969 in Shamokin, PA, Tom married Patricia Ann (Hand) who predeceased him on October 25, 2016. He is survived by his children, Christopher Short of Wappingers Falls, Timothy Short and his wife Dawn of East Fishkill, and Stephen Short and his wife Heidi Kullman of Wappingers Falls; his grandchildren, Timothy, Ian and Isabella Short, Kyleigh and Connor Short, Zachary Mesuda, and Tao Short; his siblings, Barbara Moyer (Ronald) of PA, Chrystal Johnson (Constance) of TX, Anne Roe (Kenneth) of NJ, Anthony Dydeck (Susan) of NJ, Michelle Campbell (Thomas) of NJ; and 16 nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was also predeceased by his sister Debbie Lippencott of NJ.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 9-11am at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. There will be a funeral service at 11am followed by interment with military honors in Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
