Obituary for Clifford H. Caswell

Clifford H. Caswell of Palmyra, Virginia entered into eternal rest on December 4, 2017 in Charlottesville, Virginia. He was 91 years old.

The son of the late Clifford E. and Estella Lipsett Caswell, Clifford H. Caswell was born on January 30, 1926 in Wallkill, New York. On June 26, 1954 Cliff married Estelle Daguerre in Wallkill. He was a lifelong resident of Wallkill before moving to Virginia with his wife to be near their daughter, Lori.

Cliff was an instructor of auto mechanics at the Wallkill Correctional Facility in Wallkill before retiring in 1988.

Cliff honorably and proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy, serving in the Pacific during World War II.

Cliff was a member of several organizations including the American Legion, Masonic Lodge, Dwaarkill Rod & Gun Club, and Rustico Resort Golf & Country Club, Prince Edward Island, Canada. Cliff loved racing motorcycles and on July 12, 1953 riding a BSA motorcycle, he won the New York State Championship. Cliff loved traveling and boating summers, and skiing winters at Mad River Glen in Vermont.

Cliff is survived by his wife, Estelle; his daughter, Lori of Virginia; and 3 granddaughters, Lauren and her fiancé Joseph of New Jersey, Taylor of Texas and Courtney of Virginia; his sister, Iris Bellarosa; his brother, Blair Caswell and his wife, Margery; and several nieces and nephews. Cliff was predeceased by his sister, Audrey Caswell in 1947, and his brother-in-law Thomas Bellarosa in 2001.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Hospice of the Piedmont in Charlottesville, Virginia who gave Cliff quality care; care that was filled with much love, compassion and kindness. Cliff will be greatly missed.

A celebration of Cliff's life will be held at Wallkill Reformed Church on June 10, 2018 at 1:00pm. Inurnment with military honors will follow at the Wallkill Valley Cemetery.
