Obituary for Isabel K. McAdams

Isabel K. McAdams, 71, a resident of Hopewell Junction for over 40 years and previously of Fishkill and Peekskill, died on July 1, 2018 at Rosary Hill Home surrounded by her family.

Born in Mount Vernon on March 5, 1947, she was the daughter of Frank and Marie Schiavone Popoli. Isabel was a 1965 graduate of St. Mary High School in Greenwich, CT, and a 1969 graduate of Ladycliff College in Highland Falls where she received her BA with a major in English and minor in Elementary Education. She received her MS from SUNY New Paltz in Elementary Education in 1974, and her AAS in Dietetics from Westchester Community College in 2006.

Isabel was an Elementary Teacher for the Lakeland School District. She also enjoyed an additional 10 years teaching, subbing and tutoring in Wappingers Central School District and Lakeland School District. She was also a Registered Dietetic Technician for Hopewell Medical Group for 8 years.

On August 22, 1970 at St. Clements Church, Fort Lauderdale, FL, Isabel married Thomas McAdams who survives at home. She is also survived by her children, Thomas R. McAdams Jr. and his wife Jenny of New Jersey, and Kevin J. McAdams and his wife Christina of Brooklyn; her grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Sarah and Liliana McAdams; her sister, Francine Edelman and her husband Michael of West Palm Beach, FL; and her nephew, Jeffery Edelman of Florida.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, NY 12533. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday at 10 am at St. Columba Church followed by entombment in the Community Mausoleum at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
