Obituary for Joseph Edward Montague

Joseph Edward Montague, a lifelong area resident, died peacefully at home surrounded by family on Saturday, September 1, 2018. He was 71.
Son of the late Joseph and Marguerite (Quinn) Montague, he was born in Beacon on January 3, 1947. Joseph was a graduate of Our Lady of Lourdes High School (Poughkeepsie) and later received his bachelor’s degree from Lowell Technological Institute in Massachusetts.
He was employed by I.B.M. in Poughkeepsie for nearly 40 years and retired in 2007 as a Program Development Manager.
Joe was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and golf. He was the President of the Wiccopee Rod & Gun Club and Past President of the East Hook Sportsmen Association. He also enjoyed sports, and for many years, volunteered as a parent coach for East Fishkill Little League and was a founding parent of the John Jay Hockey Club.
On March 31, 1973, he married Joyce A. Quick at St. John The Evangelist Church in Beacon. Joyce survives at home in Hopewell Junction.
Joseph is additionally survived by his son, Michael J. Montague of Manhattan; his daughter, Lisa DeMeo & her husband Anthony of Poughkeepsie; his granddaughters, Marguerite and Alivia Leigh DeMeo; his sister, Nancy Ferrone & her husband Gary of Poughkeepsie; his sister, MaryAnn Nussbickel & her husband Paul of Beacon; his nieces and nephews, Gary, Kristen, Brian, Lauren, and Jenna; his aunt, Mary Lopez & her husband Vincent of Wappingers Falls; and many other loving relatives & friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his niece, Melissa Ann Nussbickel.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, September 3rd at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. Additional visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 4th from 9 to 11 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12 p.m. at St. Joachim Church, 51 Leonard Street, Beacon. Interment will be at St. Joachim Cemetery in Beacon.
