Obituary for Lillian Vanacore

POUGHQUAG – Lillian Vanacore, 82, a resident of the area for 5 years, died on September 10, 2018 at Putnam Hospital Center. She previously lived in Yonkers and the Bronx.

Born in the Bronx on October 23, 1935, Lillian was the daughter of the late Joseph and Clara (Volpe) Guarnieri. She was employed as an ESL teacher for the Yonkers School District for over 30 years until her retirement in 1995. During her retirement, she loved dancing at senior centers.

She is survived by her son, Christopher Vanacore and his wife Diane of Poughquag; her grandchildren, Jacqueline and Krysta Vanacore; and her sister, Palma Capetola. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry Vanacore in 2006 and her siblings, Nina Orrach, Dolores Guarnieri, and Joseph Guarnieri.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4 – 8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday at 10 am at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction followed by entombment at Ferncliff Cemetery.
