Obituary for Richard A. Worth

Richard A.  Worth
POUGHKEEPSIE – Richard Arthur Worth, a local area resident since 1968 and formerly of Yonkers, died unexpectedly on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. He was 68.

He was born in Yonkers on January 2, 1950. In 1969, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War. Richard was honorably discharged from active duty in 1972 and received several recognitions such as the Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, National Defense Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal.

He worked as a postal clerk for the U.S. Postal Service for more than 30 years, retiring in 2006 from the Sorting Facility in Newburgh. Richard’s favorite hobby was antiquing, and for many years he worked as a vendor at the Hyde Park Antiques Center, where he most recently worked as the store’s manager.

On February 14, 1970, he married Sandra E. Schmick at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Fishkill. Sandy survives at home in Poughkeepsie.

Richard is also survived by his mother, Margaret (Geberth) Worth of Palm Harbor, FL; his son, Richard Worth & his wife Andrea of Waxhaw, NC; his son, Jason Worth & his wife Gloricela Vazquez of Fishkill; his grandchildren, Taylor Gordon & her husband Austen, Kyle Worth, Tyfanee Worth, Sydnee Worth, Crystal Agramonte, and Valerie Cruz; his great-grandsons, Arthur and Oliver; his sister, Marjorie Cardinale of Palm Harbor, FL; and many other loving relatives & friends.

He was predeceased by his father, Arthur Worth in 1981.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 30th at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A funeral service will follow at 8:30 p.m.
