Obituary for John Santoro

John Santoro, 72, an area resident since 1990 and formerly of Mount Vernon, died on October 2, 2018 at his home following a long illness.

Born in Pescara, Italy on June 24, 1946, he was the son of Guiseppe and Miracolina (Della Penna) Santoro. John was a member of Local #113 in Hawthorne, working at the Empire Raceway in Yonkers.

John was a lifelong athlete. He was a Professional Bowler and was inducted into the Bowling Hall of Fame. He also played softball. John was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and Giants.

On May 4, 1975 at St. Catharine’s Church in Pelham, John married Josephine (Randazzo) Santoro who survives at home. He is also survived by his sons, John C. Santoro of Wappingers Falls, and Matthew J. Santoro and his wife Dimitria of Beacon; his grandsons, Giovanni C. Santoro and Matteo C. Santoro; his brother, Carmine Santoro; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Alex and Steve Santoro.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday at 11:30am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery.
