Obituary for Frederick H. Hedgecock

Frederick H.  Hedgecock
Frederick H. Hedgecock, Sr., a resident of Fishkill, passed away on November 3, 2018. He was 85.

Born August 10, 1933 in Poughkeepsie to the late Humphrey Hedgecock and his wife, Mildred Freer Hedgecock.

Fred served his country in the United State Naval Aviation during the Korean Conflict. He attended basic training at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center and served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Tarawa CVA 40. He went on to graduate from Airman School at the Naval Air Station in Norman, OK; Advanced School or Ordnance and Special Weapons at the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, FL; and was assigned to the Naval Air Station in San Diego, CA at Coronado. He went on to be a Special Weapons Instructor for Navy pilots and crewmen. He was discharged in 1956.

Fred worked for IBM in Poughkeepsie and Fishkill for 35 years. Where he held management positions in Manufacturing, New Product Development, Quality Control and Quality Assurance for the GPD Division.

He was a past Commander of the Pleasant Valley American Legion Post 739, past President of the Dutchess Grand Jury Association, past member of the Poughkeepsie Elks and the American Society of Quality Control.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Shirley Brown; his close companion, Lynne Hamm; his loving children, Frederick Hedgecock and his wife Jill of Sparta, GA, Kenneth Hedgecock and his wife Barbara of West Palm Beach, FL, Keith Hedgecock and his wife Debra of Pleasant Valley and Kathy DeRobertis and her husband Jeff of Plattekill; and his cherished grandchildren, Kacy, Karly, Nicole, Erika and Mitchell. He was predeceased by his sister, Barbara Hagan.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4-7pm at McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main St., Fishkill. A funeral service will be held at 7pm at the funeral home followed by military honors. Burial will be held at St. James Cemetery in Hyde Park at the convenience of the family.
