Obituary for Remy F. "Mr. Hugs" Bizien

Remy F. "Mr. Hugs" Bizien
REMY BIZIEN

Mr Hugs!

April 26, 1950 – November 15, 2018

By Mary Bizien

WOW! THAT CRAZY WONDERFUL MAN! As I recall, my first thoughts of my husband, Remy. Simply put, to know him was to love him. Remy just loved people…and people loved Remy.

He spent his life caring for others in the most magnificent way. His mother, the true sunshine of his life, her wish was his command to her last moment on earth. Mr. Michel, his father, was catered to by Remy. Remy packed his life up to be his caregiver, which he did to perfection.

Remy, born in France, arrived at the shores of the United States around 1954. For me, he was a bigger gift to the United States than the Statue of Liberty. He became a New Yorker and New York loved Remy. The streets of New York were where Remy felt at home. A simple night out on the town was never ordinary. “Remy,” a call came from the street. The man looked like a bum, but Remy would see his spirit and stop his evening out, to talk to him, to spend time with him, to hear his stories, to offer him a cigarette and just talk to him. “Remy,” a police officer, would stop Remy just to say hi. Doormen, at the big highrise buildings would stop Remy, just to chat. Beautiful girls would chase Remy down the street just to give him a hug and tell him how their careers were going. He would feel people’s pain and joy. If you needed him, he was there for you. His charisma and personality was inviting and infectious.

What made Remy happy were people. Just ordinary people. Telling stories, the daily drama of their lives. He was just an open book. The drama of your life if you shared it with him.

He would greet you with a big hug and leave you with a big hug.

So Good Bye My Big Wonderful Man!

Till we meet again.
