Obituary for Charles B. Brill

EAST FISHKILL - Charles Byron Brill, 75, died on December 11, 2018 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

A lifelong area resident, he was born on July 24, 1943 to Ferris and Anna Brill, and attended the one room schoolhouse on Beekman Road. Charlie proudly served his country in the US Army while stationed in Germany.

On March 10, 1973, Charlie married the love of his life, Charlene H. (Simpson) Brill who predeceased him on July 10, 2016 when she lost her courageous battle with cancer. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his sister, Diane Brill.

Charlie leaves behind his son, Charles F. Brill-Harvey and his husband, Lex R. Brill-Harvey; his brother, William “Skip” Brill; his father-in-law, Charles A. Simpson; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Charlie worked for many years for NYSDOT and then went on to work for the Town of East Fishkill Highway Department, retiring in 1995. He also operated Charlie’s Lawn Service.

Everyone who knew him knew his best buddy was Zoe, his Golden Retriever, who always rode in the truck with him. Charlie was also called the “Mayor of Hopewell” for all the people and knowledge that he knew. The town has lost a great man and we have lost a great husband, father and friend.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 10am-12:30pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. There will be a Memorial Service at 12:30pm, followed by a celebration of his life at Mill Creek Caterers.
