Obituary for John T. "Jack" O'Donnell

John T. “Jack” O’Donnell, a lifelong Dutchess County resident, died on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh. He was 83.
Son of the late John J. and Anna (Schnetzler) O’Donnell, he was born in Beacon on November 6, 1935. Jack was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and served during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged from active duty in 1957 as Airman Second Class. He worked as a real estate agent for many years at Prudential Serls Prime Properties.
Jack was an avid outdoorsman who liked to hunt and fish and also enjoyed golfing and bowling. More than anything else, he cherished spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
On October 6, 1957, he married Carol Betterton in Beacon. Carol survives at home in Fishkill.
He is also survived by his son, Craig O’Donnell and his wife Debra; his son, John O’Donnell & his wife Kim; his son, Sean O’Donnell & his wife Dawn; his daughter-in-law, Jean O’Donnell; his grandchildren, Megan Mossey & her husband Brian, Amy Eddy & her husband Chris, Casey O’Donnell and his wife Lauren, Joshua O’Donnell, Andrew O’Donnell, Travis O’Donnell, Taylor O’Donnell & his wife Gianna, Dylan O’Donnell, and Logan O’Donnell; his great-grandchildren, Eve, Mae, Norah, Landon, Makayla, and Dakota; and many nieces, nephews, other loving relatives & friends.
Jack was predeceased by his son, Todd O’Donnell, on October 24, 2007; as well as five sisters: Margaret Provost, Alice Murphy, Mary Nealis, Anna Mae Handley, and Joan Johnan.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, December 27 at St. Joachim Cemetery, 325 Washington Avenue, Beacon. Following services at 2 p.m., all relatives & friends are invited to join the family in celebrating Jack’s life at St. Rocco Society, 26 S. Chestnut Street, Beacon.
