FISHKILL – Bernadette Pagnozzi, a resident of Fishkill since 2014, formerly of Deposit, NY and the Bronx, died peacefully at home on Thursday, January 3, 2019. She was 94.
Daughter of the late Gaetano and Rosaria (Giardinieri) Bastardi, she was born in Manhattan on January 2, 1925. Bernadette was raised in the Bronx, where she later worked as a seamstress for many years. She was excellent at her craft, and throughout her entire life, she custom-tailored clothing for countless relatives & friends. Bernadette was a lifelong New York Yankees fan, but most especially she loved spending time with her family.
On July 24, 1949, she married Andrew A. Pagnozzi at Blessed Sacrament Church in the Bronx. Andrew predeceased her on February 1, 2014.
Survivors include her five children and their spouses: Josephine Macera & her husband Frank of Louisiana, Joseph Pagnozzi & his wife Donna of the Bronx, Lucy Pilla & her husband Paul of Fishkill, Gerard Pagnozzi & his wife Ellen of Fishkill, and Andrew Pagnozzi, Jr. & his wife Gail of Pleasantville; her grandchildren: Joseph Pagnozzi & his wife Michele, Laurie Beeden & her husband Justin, Bernadette Pagnozzi, John Paul Pilla & his wife Ashley, Virginia DellaDonna & her husband Michael, Andrea Pilla, Noelle Pagnozzi, Meagan O’Reilly & her husband Paul, Bonnie Pagnozzi, Pvt. Andrew Pagnozzi, III (US Army), and Chloe Pagnozzi; her great-grandchildren: Dominick, Arianna, Anthony, Julianna, Olivia, and Michael; her sister, Mary Battaglia; her brother, William Bastardi; and many nieces, nephews, other loving relatives & friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Bernadette was also predeceased by her sister, Antoinette Fiumfreddo; and two brothers, Michael Bastardi and Dominick Bastardi.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, January 6 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 7 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill. Entombment will follow in the Community Mausoleum at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
