Obituary for Mary P. Ferland

BEACON – Mary P. Ferland, a Beacon resident since 2010, formerly of Cartersville, GA and Hopewell Junction, died at home on Thursday, January 3, 2019. She was 76.
She was born in Beacon on March 22, 1942. Mary was a graduate of St. Mary’s School in Wappingers Falls and Wappingers Central High School (1960).
Mary was an avid reader and loved to travel. She and her husband accomplished visiting 48 states and also spent one summer touring Alaska. She worked for many years as a legal secretary for Roosa & Roosa Law Firm and as a bookkeeper for Rodney D. Tobin, Inc. Mary was a longtime parishioner of St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction and St. Francis of Assissi Church in Cartersville, GA. She belonged to the Catholic Daughters of America and was past president of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary. More than anything else, she cherished spending time with her family.
On November 1, 1958, she married Donald A. Ferland in Hopewell Junction. Donald predeceased Mary on February 1, 2017.
Survivors include her daughter, Donna A. Goodall & her husband Andy of Beacon; her father, Robert Moore & his wife Janet of Missouri; her son-in-law, Douglas DeLise of Florida; her grandchildren, Andrew John Goodall & his wife Carianne, Derrick DeLise, Melanie Dina & her husband Matt, and D.J. Goodall; her great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Zachary, and Graeme; her brother, Charlie Welch & his wife Eileen; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dave Kyriazis, Noreen Ferland, and Howard & Priscilla Ferland; and many nieces, nephews, other loving relatives & friends.
In addition to her husband Donald, Mary was also preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Patricia DeLise (2005); her mother, Agnes P. Welch Moore; her sister, Cindy Kyriazis; her brothers, Thomas F. Welch and John P. Welch; and brothers-in-law, Richard Ferland and Fred Ferland.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, January 6 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 7 at the funeral home, followed by interment at St. Joachim Cemetery in Beacon.
