Condolences

Condolence From: Bill Gill on the Hill
Condolence: Peace in hearts and minds to all of us left behind by Dom's passing. I only knew him from William Tell, but over a good number of years he became a friend and a trusted source of information on all things hardware- and project-related. Besides his warm and lively personality, I'll miss our chats about beer, wine, espresso, singing and Italy. Rest in Peace, younger brother!

Condolence: Its no secret Dominic was a very special man.
On his worst day, he could make you smile and forget your problems. It didn't matter what was going on his life, he had time for you. He made YOU feel important and special and that's what made him special.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
God Bless.

Condolence: My condolences to Dom's family and close friends. We worked together at William Tell for a few years and became friends. I always looked forward to seeing him when our days coincided. Turned out that our paths crossed years before we ever worked together! He knew our dearest friends (The French Connection) and attended the same celebration we did at the Woronock House. We have mutual friends. A few years back, we spent an afternoon enjoying a lunch with another former employee and then revisiting some of Dom's earlier experiences.

He and I used to sing along to the music provided in the hardware store - it was great to have someone else who enjoyed the same tunes.

I heard his stories about Poughkeepsie and could definitely relate, although my growing years were not spent there.

I'll always remember Dom as a kind and sweet friend. His legacy lives on.

To Dom's family and close friends - you were blessed to have this man in your lives.

Condolence: My husband and myself were saddened to hear about Dominic's passing. We ran into him last year talking about old times. He worked with my husband at Café Aurora and I knew him from when his family first came from Italy. He said he remembered how my Dad took him under his wing. His Mom and Dad were lovely people, always happy like Domenic. My brother, sister and myself went to school with Dominic and some of his sisters. We send our love and prayers to al l of his family.

Condolence: Dominic and I attended St Marys and Phs but reconnecting with him at the PHS schoolreunion this past summer was nothing short of inspirational. Our conversation illuminated the past 60 years for me He was forthcoming and sincere and revealing about his life experience. I was compelled to write about life in the old America. So very sorry for his family. Dominic was a lovely man.

Condolence: Dominic was the warm face of that special place, the Red Oaks Mill Hardware store. I grieved to see the shelves empty out as Home Depot sapped its business, and often recall Dominic shrugging his shoulders, saying "what can I do?". It was a lovely era, and Dominic was a kindly knowlegeable friend in it.

Condolence: I worked at the store (old and new) as a teenager and into college. I knew nothing about hardware and related matters, but Don was exceedingly patient with me - always. He knew everyone’s name and greeted them warmly. ROMH was a family-run business that included every person that walked through the door. That was the culture Dom nurtured, which I haven’t forgotten as I run my own business.
I also will never forget his singing. We always listened to the oldies station, and he loved to sing along.
Dom and Linda were very generous and gracious to me, including inviting me to their home for events.
Dom’s passing truly saddens me. He was very influential to me those many years ago. My best wishes to Nicole, Krista, and Stefanie, and Linda.
