Obituary for Mildred Pizzuti

POUGHQUAG – Mildred Pizzuti, 87, an area resident since 1972, died on January 28, 2019 at home surrounded by her family. She previously lived in Brooklyn.

Born in Brooklyn on August 15, 1931, Mildred was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Stella Sorrentino. On January 14, 1968 in Brooklyn, she married Egidio “Gino” Pizzuti who survives at home.

Together with her family, Mildred currently owned and operated Gino’s Restaurant in Wappingers Falls since 1984. Prior to that, they owned Diamanti’s Restaurant in Poughquag from 1972-1983.

In addition to her husband of 51 years, Mildred is survived by her sons, Antonio "Anthony" Pizzuti of Poughquag and Pasquale “Patsy” Pizzuti of Poughquag; and her nieces and nephews, Diane Cavarretta, Paul Cavarretta and his wife Diana, Michael Petrizzo, and Mary Anne Petrizzo and her husband Steve Feely.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4 – 8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday at 10 am at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction followed by burial at St. Denis Cemetery.
