Obituary for Priscilla A. Murphy

LaGrangeville - Priscilla A. Murphy, 84, an area resident since 1955 and formerly of Wilton, NH, died on January 30, 2019 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

Born in Nashua, NH on November 7, 1934, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Mildred (Boutwell) Gibbons. Priscilla had been employed as a secretary for Love Effron Fuel Oil in Poughkeepsie. She was a parishioner of St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church, and a member of the Home Bureau. She had volunteered with the Boy Scouts and Girls Scouts. She bowled for many years in the leagues at Mardi Bob Lanes. She enjoyed all types of needlework including knitting and crocheting, and was a diehard fan of all the New England teams – Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins and Celtics.

On January 16, 1954 at Sacred Heart Church in Wilton, NH, Priscilla married Thomas Murphy who survives at home. She is also survived by her children and their spouses, Thomas and Laurie Murphy of Westbury, Stephanie and Russell Bonk of Clinton Corners, and James and Adele Murphy of Stanfordville; her grandchildren, Shane, Heidi, Jonathan, Jaclyn, Brendan, Amanda, Sarah, Jessica, Kaitlin, Austin, Carson, Bryan, Nicole and William; 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great, great-granddaughter. She was predeceased by her daughter, Jennifer Murphy Morrell who died on April 21, 2003.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 1-5pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday at 10:30am at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church, 1925 Route 82, Lagrangeville followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery.
