Obituary for Vincent J. Fiorletti, Jr.
HOPEWELL JUNCTION – Vincent J. Fiorletti, Jr., 72, a Hopewell Junction resident since 1976, died on February 1, 2019 at NYU Langone after a long, brave battle with heart disease. He previously lived in Mahopac.
Born on January 6, 1947 in the Bronx, Vincent was the son of the late Vincent J. and Irene (DiGiammarco) Fiorletti, Sr. He had been employed as manufacturing manager for IBM in East Fishkill for 30 years until his retirement.
On September 27, 1969 in Mahopac, Vincent married M. Kaaren Chirasello (Fiorletti). His wife of over 49 years survives at home. He is also survived by his daughter, Michelle Fiorletti Phillips and her husband Herbert of Wappingers Falls; his beloved dog, who he lovingly referred to as his son, Eddie; his mother-in-law, Fay Mayes; his brother, William Fiorletti; his nieces and nephews, William Fiorletti, Jr., Christine Valencia, Andrea Chirasello, and Ariana Chirasello; his great nephews, Danny and Christian Valencia and Finn Chochrek; multiple cousins; and cherished friends of his daughter who he considered family, Robert Faust, Hope Platel, and Rebecca Talaska. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his nephew, Michael Fiorletti.
In his retirement years, Vincent became an avid photographer, capturing precious family moments as well as a computer enthusiast. In his free time, he could be found listening to Neil Diamond, monitoring his police scanner, or making beautiful, personalized cards for family and friends. Vincent was a true gentleman, with a quick-wit and a brilliant mind. He was a straight shooter and told you what you needed to hear (whether you wanted to hear it or not!) Perhaps Vincent’s proudest moment was being able to officiate at the marriage of his daughter Michelle and her husband Herbert’s wedding on May 19, 2018.
The family would like to thank Dr. Anthony Grieco, MD of NYU Langone, who in 1974 as a young physician in a class of his own, diagnosed Vincent’s rare disease. The family credits and highly respects him for his unwavering dedication to determine the appropriate treatments which gave Vincent another 45 years with them. Through the duration of Vincent’s life, Dr. Grieco monitored, treated and regularly made highly skilled decisions that significantly extended and enhanced Vincent’s life. They also thank Dr. Larry Chinitz, MD of NYU Langone for his expertise in cardiac electrophysiology, having performed many complicated and lifesaving procedures for Vincent throughout the years. Dr. Chinitz and his dignified team can also be credited for lengthening and preserving Vincent’s quality of life.
