Obituary for Maria Giannone (Cutrupi)

Maria Giannone, a local area resident for more than 20 years, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2019 at the Fishkill Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation. She was 96.
Daughter of the late Vincenzo and Francesca (Vizzari) Cutrupi, she was born in Calabria, Italy on July 19, 1922. Maria emigrated to the United States at the age of 13, where she settled in Brooklyn.
On June 3, 1944, she married Corrado Giannone in Brooklyn. She was predeceased by her husband in 1999.
Maria loved to cook and always enjoyed spending time with those she loved. More than anything else, she truly cherished her family.
Survivors include her son, Francesco Giannone & his wife Annette; her son, Vincenzo Giannone & his wife Maryann; her daughter, Carmela Balzano; her daughter, Francesca Ilardi & her husband Salvatore; her grandchildren, Maria Giannone, Corrado Giannone & his wife Dina, Francesco Giannone, Jennifer Flood & her husband Vinny, Corrado Giannone & his wife Lauren; Vincent Giannone & his fiancé Danielle; Maria McKay & her husband Allen, Colegero Ilardi & his wife Elisa, Corrado Ilardi & his wife Lisa, Angela Ilardi & her fiancé Peter; her great-grandchildren, Isabella, C.J., Guilaiet, Christopher, Kiera, Sophia, Michael, Allen, Victoria, John, Eliana, Luca, and Matthew; and many nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Maria was also predeceased by her siblings, Antonio Cutrupi, Rosario Cutrupi, Carmela Martino, and Rosa Birli; as well as her son-in-law, Frank Balzano.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 13 at Sacred Hearts & St. Stephen Church, 108 Carroll Street, Brooklyn. Interment will follow at Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn.
