John T Dooney-The original Doons: An Oakside legend, builder of The Barry's infamous Sand Bar, and all-round nice guy. He was the first big brother of friends I ever met and always treated me kindly. His easy going personality made him a favorite of all who knew him and was always willing to lend a hand to any who needed one. John handled his unfortunate situation privately and with great dignity and his loss leaves a big hole in the fabric of the lives of those of all ages who grew up with him. The world is less without him but his suffering is over. Rest in Peace John and know you left an bright and indelible mark in the world.

To the Dooney family,
John and I worked on various jobs over the years. He was a proud member of Local 91 and a
pleasure to work with. My sympathy goes out to his family at this sad time.
Sincerely,
Joe Novak

John has always been a towering figure, a man you took notice of and enjoyed and were the better for having him in your life. His big infectious laugh (that grin!) stays with me still as does his warmth and kindness . Years ago, he and Bernie and I had so much fun hanging out celebrating our various adventures or the days antics. John was lovely to our family, to the Houskeeper clan, and made a big impression on us. And seeing him with Margo, she so young and John the gentle giant , cheering her on, just radiating pride and joy was something to behold. He will be missed. RIP. Jeanne Chisamore
