MILLBROOK, NY - Lolita Gutierrez McStay, 88, died on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY.
A recent resident of Millbrook, NY, she had previously resided in Chappaqua, White Plains, Shrub Oak, Somers and Thornwood, NY; Taylors, SC; Fort Pierce and Boca Raton, FL; Morris, IL, as well as overseas in Coogee, NSW, Australia and Carrick-on-Shannon, Leitrim, Ireland.
Daughter of the late Manuel and Carmen Gutierrez, she was born in Santiago de las Vegas, Havana, Cuba on September 28, 1930, while her parents were emigrating from Spain to the US and visiting relatives in Cuba. She grew up in NY and graduated from White Plains High School in 1948.
On November 18, 1950, she married the love of her life Gregory James McStay in Bronx, NY. Lolita was predeceased by her husband on December 5, 1995.
For many years, Lolita worked for IBM at their locations in White Plains, NY and Boca Raton, FL, retiring in 1987. She had also worked for General Foods. Lolita enjoyed gardening and travel, including circumnavigating the world by ship.
Survivors include her son, Niall McStay & his wife Carol of Flanders, NJ; her son, Gregory McStay & his wife Carmen of White Plains, NY; her grandchildren: Charlayne McStay & her husband Matthew Piscatelli of Clinton, CT, Carissa McStay of Washington, DC, Chantal McStay of Brooklyn, NY, Monica McStay and Marisol McStay of White Plains, NY; her great-grandson, Owen Piscatelli of Clinton, CT; and other loving relatives & friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Lolita was also predeceased by her twin sister, Carmen (Connie) Gutierrez Reinholtz, as well as her brother, Luis Gutierrez.
