Obituary for Lillian Caruso (Lown)
Lillian Lown Caruso, 95, of Mooresville, NC, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2019 at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville.
She was born on February 23, 1924 in Millerton, NY, to the late George and Mary Partington Lown. During WWII, she worked making rafts in service for her country. Mrs. Caruso retired after many years as a Correction Officer. She was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church in Mooresville. She loved to play golf, Bridge, and was a great friend to many and was loved by all. Mrs. Caruso was an amazing cook and baker; she was known for her famous cheesecake. She was very devoted to her family and had a firm belief in God.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Caruso; son Joseph Caruso; grandson Jeffrey Dolan; son-in-law Bernard “Curly” Dolan; and eleven siblings.
She is survived by her daughters, Roberta Leonelli and son-in-law, Leonard Leonelli, Joan Dolan both of Mooresville; seven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 10am - 12pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. There will be a funeral service at 12pm followed by burial in St. Denis Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Therese Catholic Church, 217 Brawley School Rd, Mooresville, NC 28117.
