Obituary for Gloria DeFillippo (Minichini)
Gloria DeFillippo, 93, passed away at the Lutheran Care Center in Poughkeepsie on Sunday, October 27, 2019.
Daughter of the late James and Theresa (Anacharico) Minichini, she was born in Mount Vernon on March 9, 1926. Gloria worked for many years as an Administrative Aide at Hamilton Elementary School in Mount Vernon.
In 1948, she married Anthony DeFillippo, who predeceased her in 2008.
Survivors include her son, Louis DeFillippo & his wife Sandra of Jackson, NJ; her daughter, Judith Colamaria & her husband Nicolas of Hopewell Junction; her grandchildren: Danielle James & her husband Richard, Brian DeFillippo & his wife Melissa, John Shaughnessy, Joseph Shaughnessy, Marc Colamaria & his wife Amy, and Andrea Ringen & her husband Matthew; as well as nine great-grandchildren and many other loving relatives & friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Gloria was also predeceased by her daughter, Lynn Shaughnessy; two sisters, Connie and May; and her brother Ernie.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 30 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill. Interment will follow at Beechwoods Cemetery, 179 Beechwood Avenue, New Rochelle.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 (www.stjude.org).
