Obituary for Jean Kerr Hodgart (Tibbs)
FISHKILL – Jean K. Hodgart, a Dutchess County resident since 1974 and formerly of Yonkers, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2020 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. She was 73.
Daughter of the late Robert and Isa (Hamill) Tibbs, she was born in Glasgow, Scotland on March 20, 1946. Jean emigrated to the United States in 1964. On May 18, 1968, she married Charles P. Hodgart at the First Westminster Presbyterian Church of Yonkers.
She was a floral designer and retired in 2007 from Twilight Florist in Hopewell Junction. Jean’s hobbies included baking, art painting, gardening, dancing, singing, and she also enjoyed her pets. More than anything else, she loved to spend time with her family and especially cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her husband Charles survives at home in Fishkill. Additional survivors include two daughters, Sharon Smith & her husband Douglas of Cary, NC and Kimberly Spielberg & her husband David of Cortlandt Manor; her grandchildren, Brittany Barker, Kevin Barker, Monica Smith, Alexander Smith, Gavin Spielberg, and Shane Spielberg; her great-grandchildren, Kora and John; her sisters, Wilma Ward & her husband John, Anne Rush, Alice Yonski & her husband Thomas, and Marie Feye; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives & friends.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, February 7 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 8 at the funeral home, followed by interment at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
