Obituary for Roy M. Staskowicz

BEACON- Roy M. Staskowicz, 68, died peacefully surrounded by his loved ones at his daughter's home on April 3, 2020 after a 6-year courageous battle with cancer.

Roy was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA before moving to Beacon. He owned and lived in his current home in Beacon for over 30 years. Roy, a LCPL in the U.S. Marines, proudly served in the Vietnam War and was the recipient of several medals including the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. He was employed as a Dock Builder for the Local #1556 with the New York City District Council of Carpenters until his retirement.

Roy is survived by his children and their spouses, Brad and Nicole Staskowicz of Wappingers Falls and Madisen and Nick Brunetti of Fishkill; his grandchildren who affectionately called him "Grambo," Gavin, Rhett, and Xander Staskowicz and Dawson and Landen Brunetti; his sister and her husband, Carol and Ron Carik of Boynton Beach, FL; his nieces and nephews, Sean Carik, Joey Staskowicz, and Dianna Moore and her husband Eric. He will be sadly missed by his dog, Max. Roy was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Marie (Olszewski) Staskowicz; nephew Ronnie Carik; and brother Joe Staskowicz.

An avid outdoorsman and golfer, he enjoyed nature and liked to hike Mt Beacon. He was a welder and had a love for building things with steel. Most of all, he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
