Obituary for George Hazel

George A. Hazel, Town of Stanford, died on Monday 06 April 2020, at the age of 77. Born in New York City on 31 March 1943, I was the second of four sons of the late Albert E. and Louise Keough Hazel, members of the “greatest” generation. On 1 August 1983, I married Deborah L. Norman of Marathon, Florida, who survives at home. I am also survived by our son, Thomas Anthony, and his wife, Olivia, and our three grand children, Savannah, Thomas, and Harper. In addition, I am survived by two of my three brothers, Robert, of Florida, and Albert, of LaGrange; my brother, Richard, having predeceased me. I attended Xavier High School, 30 West 16th Street, Manhattan (above), and The Citadel, Charleston, S.C., and was a res./ret. combat veteran of the Army of the United States and a life member of MOMA and the American Legion. Following my military service, I was employed as a pressman by the New York Daily News, and a member of Local 2 I.P.P. & A.U.N.A., and while working nights, I sought a “civilian education”. To that end, I attended the City College of New York and Brooklyn Law School. I was admitted to the Bar upon retirement from the News in 1983 and spent most of my legal career employed by Dutchess County. I am a Roman Catholic and am grateful to the God of us all for the many “bonus days”, graces, and blessings showered upon me. Every day was a bonus. A mass of resurrection will be held on a later date. By the Grace of God, Amen.
