Obituary for Miranda Miller

Miranda Miller, a New York City resident since 1975 and formerly of Durham, NC, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2020 at Montefiore Hospital in the Bronx. She was 87.

She was born in Orangeburg, SC on June 10, 1932. Miranda worked as an LPN for Lincoln Hospital and Duke University Hospital from 1973 to 1975 and then worked for Columbia Presbyterian Hospital up until her retirement in 1996.

She was a longtime member of The Riverside Church in Manhattan. Her hobbies included shopping and traveling.

Miranda is survived by a loving family, including her son, Harry Miller & his wife Mary of Durham, NC; her son, Kenneth Miller; her daughter, Sharon Miller of the Bronx; her son, Kiah Miller & his wife Christina of Beacon; her grandchildren, Alyssa Hurt, Ashli Hurt, and Anaela Hurt; her siblings, Ronald Lee Satterwhite, Thomas Edward Satterwhite & his wife Ethel, Otis Satterwhite & his wife Priscilla, Joyce Anderson, and Jean Baxter; and many other loving family members. She is also survived by a host of dear friends including Beverley Davis, Florence Dreher, Ann Crawford, Earl & Carol Ann Brinson, and the Hayes Family.

Miranda was preceded in death by her mother, Earline Satterwhite as well as two sisters, Mary Edith Ford and Queen Esther Paige.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
