Obituary for Rosangela Mathias Mathias "Rose" Alzaben

Fishkill- Rosangela (Rose) Mathias Alzaben, an area resident for 17 years, passed away on May 13, 2020 at Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital. She was 55.

Rose was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil on May 2, 1965 to the late Alberto and Gloria (Justo) Mathias. She grew up in Mount Vernon, NY. Rose graduated with honors from Mount Vernon High School in 1983. Rose excelled highly throughout her academic years. She was one of one hundred students in the United States who won the ‘Who’s Who’ award for top academic excellence in 1983. Rose spoke four languages; English, Portuguese, Spanish and French. For many years, she was employed by Ernst & Young, Banco do Brasil, Price Waterhouse and most recently worked in the City Clerk’s office for the City of Peekskill.

Rose loved to travel, especially to her native country of Brazil. She also loved Brazilian food and loved to cook delicious meals for her family. She loved her family and loved family gatherings. Rose was loved by everyone who met her.

She is survived by her daughter who was her life, Taghreed Alzaben; her brother, Alberto Mathias; her brother and his wife, Fernando and Jody Mathias; her sister, Carla Mathias; her niece and her husband, Adrianna and Filippo Rigaglia; her nephew, Joseph Dekrell Jr.; her nieces, Aryanna Mathias and Valentina Mathias; her great nephews, Dominic and Nicholas Rigaglia; and her aunt and uncle, Anna and Antonio Goncalves of New Jersey and her uncle Domingos Justo of Brazil. In addition to her parents, Rose was also predeceased by her beloved sister, Gloria M. Dekrell.
