Catherine Schoonmaker, a Hopewell Junction resident for 5 years and previously of Millbrook for 49 years, died peacefully at home on May 29, 2020 surrounded by her family. She was 70.

Born in Yonkers on April 16, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Elaine (Tully) Carnahan.

On July 16, 1967, Catherine married the love of her life, Edward Schoonmaker, at St. Denis Church where she continued to be a dedicated parishioner. Catherine worked as an administrative assistant for 20 years at Perkins Value and Findings until her retirement in 2005. In her free time, Catherine enjoyed spending time in the kitchen cooking for her family, planting in her garden, and discovering her family tree.

Catherine is survived by her husband, Edward; her daughter Karen Kunz and her husband Paul; her daughter Kelly Smay and her husband Gary; her granddaughter, Brenna Kunz; her grandsons, Caiden and Keegan Smay; and her brother, Thomas Carnahan.
