Obituary for Ray Ialonardi

HOPEWELL JUNCTION – Ray Ialonardi, 76, a resident of Hopewell Junction since 1996 and a previous resident of Yonkers, died on June 8, 2020.

Born in the Bronx on August 22, 1943, Ray was the son of the late Mary DeLuca. Ray was employed as Director of Construction for Diamond Properties in Valhalla until his retirement in 2014.

On April 29, 1961, he married the love of his life, Marianne (Harney) Ialonardi. Ray lived his life to the fullest on his own terms. He enjoyed adventure, including travel, parasailing, hot air ballooning, and flying a classic combat fighter plane. He was an amazing dad who sacrificed much to provide for his family and always told his daughters that being a girl would not stop them from being anything that they wanted to be. He was also fortunate to have sons-in-law that he considered sons. He was a fiercely loyal friend, husband, parent and grandparent. He loved good food, a good bottle of wine and a good book. He loved his time in Arizona and found peace and solace in the desert. Nothing gave him more joy than his grandchildren, Alexa Rae and Jared.

Ray is survived by his wife, Marianne, his daughters Dina Finelli and Christine Cassetta; his son-in-law, Anthony Cassetta; his grandchildren, Alexa Rae and Jared; his siblings; numerous nieces and nephews; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and life-long friends and colleagues. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his son-in-law, Richard Finelli, on November 24, 2019.

The family will hold a private burial.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, Utah or Wounded Warrior Project. Please share stories, thoughts, condolences and memories at Ray’s Book of Memories at www.mchoulfuneralhome.com.
