Obituary for Helen Laube
Helen (Wernicke) was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Arthur and Helen E. Beckhusen. She was raised in Queens and Brooklyn and graduated from New Utrect HS (1946-1950).
She married the late Donald E. Laube, Sr. and moved to Salt Point, NY where she lived until 2010 when she and Don moved to La Mesa, Ca. They moved back to Wappingers Falls in 2015, where Donald passed away on January 30, 2016, after 60 years of marriage. Helen worked in the Millbrook School District for many years, primarily as the Assistant Librarian in the elementary schools, a great joy for Helen as it combined two of her great loves, children and books! She also worked for the Dutchess County Clerk's office and was involved in various political campaigns in her district. Helen's life revolved around her family.
She is survived by her beloved children, Donald E. Laube, Jr. and his wife, Karen (Wappingers Falls), Laney Hoover and her husband, Todd (Flagstaff, AZ), and David W. Laube (Hyde Park), grandchildren, Matthew Laube (Dee), Christopher Laube (Jamie), Kirstie Cartwright (Ca), Ariana Hoover (Ohio), and 4 beautiful great-grandchildren whom she adored. Helen touched the lives of many with her kindness and will be remembered for her heart of gold.
A private celebration of her life will be held by her family at a future date.
