Obituary for William J. Wiemers
POUGHKEEPSIE - William J. Wiemers, 56, an area resident since 2015 and formerly of Ossining, died on June 24, 2020.
Born in Yonkers on July 9, 1963, he was the son of William and Lois (Cerone) Wiemers. William was employed as a teacher for the NYC Board of Education and the NYS Department of Corrections at Sing Sing Correctional Facility.
Fluent in English, Spanish and Italian, William dedicated his life to teaching and tutoring.
William is survived by his sister, JoAnn Boscarino; and his nieces and nephew, Melissa, Richie and Kristen Boscarino.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a wonderful man, great soul and a kind human.
Bill passed away in his sleep on Wednesday after a long battle with Mixed Connective Tissue Disease. It was a hard fought battle and he did everything he could to not only look for management of the pain, but for treatment of this auto-immune disease.
He was incredibly proud of all his students throughout his teaching career from Ohio to NYC and Sing Sing Correctional Facilty. He was always involved in his local community wherever he lived and was an advocate for the BIPOC community. Bill had a love for learning and helping everyone he came in contact with.
He is survived and loved by my mother, JoAnn, his brother, John, along with myself, his nephew Richie and niece Kristen as well as many cousins, aunts, uncles and in-laws.
My Uncle Billy loved the color yellow because it was bright and happy. He could take a nap at anytime of the day for several hours a day and enjoyed falling asleep to Cops and NatGeo shows. “Booly” loved to listen to music from the 70’s and bop his head to the beat of Moves Like Jagger and Uptown Funk. He also had a special talent of giving you presents that aren’t necessarily practical, but always made you smile.
We will not be holding a service but we ask that you keep him in your prayers. Memorial donations may be made to the Autoimmune Disease Research Foundation. He truly wanted to learn how to treat this currently incurable disease.
We will keep this account open for you to share your memories and prayers. Thank you to all who loved and cared for him. We are grateful that our Booly was admired by so many.
