Obituary for Satwant Singh Garcha

BEACON – Satwant Singh Garcha, 75, a resident of Beacon since 1986, died on July 2, 2020 at Westchester Medical Center. He previously lived in Wappingers Falls.

Born in India on May 10, 1945, he was the son of the late Duman S. and Amar Garcha. He was employed as a corrections officer for over 29 years by the New York State Department of Corrections until his retirement in 2018. Satwant was a member of the Mid-Hudson Sikh Cultural Society.

On October 6, 1968 in Dakha, India, he married Mohanjet Garcha who survives at home. He is also survived by his son, Gurwinder Garcha and his wife Tina Sodhi of Albany; his daughter, Sandeep Cohen and her husband Jason of New City; his grandchildren, Saia and Anaya Garcha and Daniel, Delilah, and Gabriel Cohen; and his sisters and their husbands, Tejwant and Kulwant Bhangoo of Wappingers Falls and Sarbjeet and Sukhdev Kang of Poughkeepsie. IN addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his son Gurpreet Garcha in 2003.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday from 11 am – 12 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. In compliance with NYS guidelines, social distancing and masks will be required and capacity may be limited.
