How I met Roger Peterson.
I met Roger in the year 2000 the Rolling Rock Restaurant. The Rolling Rock was decorated will all kinds of memorabilia.
Located up on a wall in a corner was a mannequin of "James Dean" sitting in a director's chair.
I looked at Roger with his hair slicked back and thought to myself I know this guy from somewhere. It dawned on me, Roger looked like the mannequin of "James Dean". Roger said to me "What you looking at?" I pointed to the mannequin and said to Roger, "What are you some kind of "James Dean" wanna be?"
Well Roger laughed..
Roger and I became friends and shared many stories in our past, and many many laughs..
Roger LOVE his dogs. He has had many dogs in the 20 years that I knew him. (All Rescue's).
Roger viewed himself as a tough guy, but Roger had a BIG heart. He was a sensitive, caring person, his dogs came first!
I remembered when Roger pulled into Double O towing his boat before heading to Long Island. Well that never happened.
A bunch of us locals came to see Roger's boat in the parking lot. Next thing we knew it was a big party on his boat.
Roger and his dog spent the night sleeping on the boat in the parking lot. It was so much fun!
I grabbed a fishing rod and went fishing in the parking lot. I caught some cans and things. I remembered trying to tune in
an oldies radio station on the boat, and the coast guard responded.
Roger was an ICON at the Double O Grill.
To Roger's family and loved ones, I am sorry for your loss.
I miss Roger, he was my friend.

Having known Roger for more than half our lives we are definitely going to miss him. Andy and I were the "Three Amigos" the couple of years before our wedding. We went everywhere together in Andy's Blue Baracuda (no seat belts and me in the middle of those two characters). We were lucky to have had Roger in our wedding party, one of Andy's best men and he belonged there. He made us smile. He loved to tease and one time he said let's go crabbing! I had never done this so off we went in a little motor boat off the L.I. Sound and he pulled into this little cove and looked at me (all dressed up mind you) and said ok jump in!
What? He said you have to go down to the bottom and feel for the crabs with your toes!!!!! That's not going to happen. So over he went to show us. I never knew if he was kidding us or not because we never found crabs but he couldn't get back into the boat. We couldn't drag him back in. This was a typical evening with Roger. Then we went to Grey Oaks to see Pop!
We have only good memories of Roger and this morning I share our memories with sweet tears. Rest in Peace dear friend.
