Obituary for Maria Elena Granados
Elena Granados, 94, of Fishkill, NY, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Friday, October 23, 2020.
Elena was born in Mexico City on December 31, 1925 to Serapio Mendoza Fernandez and Margarita Perez Villagran. She immigrated to Tuckahoe, New York in 1952 where she raised her family and worked as a seamstress and housekeeper. She relocated to Dutchess County with her family in 1999.
She loved dancing, hosting large holiday parties and family dinners, and greatly enjoyed making dresses and costumes for her daughters and grandchildren. She travelled frequently to Mexico to visit beloved family members and friends.
Elena was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Maria del Refugio Arellano, Jorge Mendoza, Fernando Mendoza, Guillermo Mendoza, and Ana Maria Manterola, as well as her long-term friend and companion Josef Braun, and her granddaughters Dominque Granados-Kramer and Denise Braun.
She is survived by two sisters, Consuelo Mendoza of Davie, FL and Carmella Guzman of Mexico City; her children and their spouses Helen and Gerald Braun of Fishkill, Elizabeth Granados and Charles Kramer of Hyde Park, Armin Braun and Dawn Liveli-Braun of Hopewell Junction, and Robert Braun of Tuckahoe; her grandchildren Rachel Braun, Nicole Braun, Nicholas Granados-Kramer, Christopher Granados-Kramer, and Kristy Voyer; and many other beloved friends and family members including Philip Olmos, Tony and Lisa Olmos, Krystal Liveli, Elaine Knapp, Teresa Arellano de Garcia, Myra Sanchez, and Manuel Arellano.
Calling Hours are Saturday October 31, 2020 12:00-1:00pm at McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, followed by interment at St. Denis Cemetery.
