Obituary for John Powlis Jr.
BEACON - John Powlis Jr., 70, a lifelong area resident passed away peacefully on January 1, 2021.
Born in Beacon, NY, on May 9, 1950, John was the son of the late John and Ruth (O’Dell) Powlis. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps., and worked at IBM for 42 years, retiring in 2017.
On August 6, 1977, John married Amy (Pavelock) Powlis, who survives at home. He is also survived by his children, John Powlis III, of Charlotte, NC, and Brian Powlis, of Beacon, NY; his grandchildren, John Powlis IV, of Charlotte, NC, Gianna Powlis of Charlotte, NC, and Colten Powlis of Beacon, NY; his siblings and their spouses, Ruth Kniffen, Gary and Sue Powlis, Jeffrey Powlis, Dennis and Terry Powlis, Fred and Kim Powlis, Kevin and Jody Powlis, Robert and Linda Powlis, Mary and Rich Laffin and Jackie Khan; his in-laws Margaret and Ronald McKeon, Frank Pavelock and Roger Pavelock and several nieces, nephews and friends.
John was predeceased by his sister, Debra (Powlis) Pavelock; and his in-laws, Frank and Amy Pavelock, James Pavelock and Peter Pavelock.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill, NY. Burial will be Friday, January 8, at 12 pm at Cold Spring Cemetery, Cold Spring, NY.
