Obituary for Michael Guglielmo

Michael Guglielmo, 74, a resident of Wappingers Falls and previously of Hopewell Junction for 40 years, died on January 2, 2021 at White Plains Hospital from complications of Covid 19.

Born on June 16, 1946 in the Bronx, Michael was the son of John and Lucille (Mele) Guglielmo. On October 19, 1968 at St. John the Baptist Church in Yonkers, Michael married the love of his life, Maureen Natt who survives at home.

Michael was a Master Mechanic in the International Union Of Operating Engineers, Local #137 in Briarcliff Manor and co-owner of Pratt Building and Development. He received Safety Awards given during his employment in 137.

First and foremost, Michael loved his family, watching his grandchildren play sports, and was a car enthusiast who loved attending car shows and car auctions with his good friends. Family and friends were everything to “Big Mike”, also known growing up as “Big Gugs.” You could always recognize him by his Allen Edmond shoes. He enjoyed hard work, fixing things and spending time at the beach.

In addition to his wife, Michael is survived by his children, Laura Santiago and her husband Ray of Pleasant Valley, Kara Romano and her husband Alex of Lagrangeville, Jon Guglielmo and his wife Jessica of Wallkill; his grandchildren, Raymond, Michael, Ava, Christopher, Madison, Jon Jr.; and his sister, Lynda DiPressi.
Death creates a wound no one can heal. Love creates memories no one can steal.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 12pm at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. We know many would like to gather, but for the safety of everyone the family requests all return to their cars directly after Mass and the cemetery.

Sometime during the summer once Covid is contained, his family will have a celebration of life where his family, friends, and neighbors can come together to honor and remember him.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Please visit Michael’s Book of Memories at www.mchoulfuneralhome.com for information on livestreaming.
