Obituary for Kathleen V. Vermilyea
Kathleen V. Vermilyea, 98, a lifelong area resident, died on January 8, 2021 at St. Luke’s Health Services in Oswego.
Born on November 10, 1922 in Beacon, Kathleen was the daughter of Patrick and Rebecca (Carey) McCullough. On February 23, 1946 in Beacon, Kathleen married the love of her life, George F. Vermilyea, who predeceased her on August 22, 2008.
Kathleen was a secretary for the Beacon School System, and for Phillips, Heaney and Scofield until her retirement in 1985. She was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church and St. Columba Church. She was a charter member of St. Columba Altar Rosary Society.
Kathleen is survived by her sons, G. Terrance Vermilyea of Oswego, Charles A. Vermilyea of Fairbanks, AK, Patrick A. Vermilyea of Wilmington, NC, Michael T. Vermilyea of Fair Haven, VT; her grandchildren, Jon Vermilyea, Daniel Vermilyea, Jessica Vermilyea, Theresa Morse, Courtney Vermilyea, Christopher Vermilyea, Amanda Vermilyea; 5 nieces & nephews, Maureen McCullough, James & Timothy Birtles, Kathleen Rhodes & David McCullough, and her 12 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brothers, David McCullough, Charles McCullough, and John “Jack” McCullough.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at 10am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment at St. Denis Cemetery.
