Obituary for Katherine E. Walsh
Hopewell Junction - Katherine E. Walsh a lifelong resident, passed away on January 15, 2021. She was 68.
Katherine was born on July 27, 1952 in Peekskill, NY the daughter of Dale and Judith (Conklin) Simpson.
Katherine, known to many as “Aunt Kak” or Maude ( a nickname given by her husband) enjoyed Bingo, gardening, cooking and feeding friends and family. She was a true animal lover and spent much of her time taking care of her frogs. She had an open-door policy at her house where all were welcome to come to talk and get advice from her.
On September 21, 1970 she married the love of her life, Thomas. He pre-deceased her in 2014.
Katherine is survived by her daughters Donna Grove and partner Dennis McConologue of Hopewell Junction, Tammi Peni and her husband Jeffrey Jr. of Poughkeepsie. She is also survived by grandchildren Brittney Grove of Columbia, SC, and Sophia and Adalynn Peni of Poughkeepsie, her Brother-in-Law Mike Head of Missouri, close friend William Lynch and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to her husband Katherine is pre-deceased by 6 brothers and sisters. Calling hours will be Thursday from 5pm-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home 895 Route 82 Hopewell Junction. A service will be held Friday at 10am in the funeral home with interment immediately following at Hopewell Cemetery.
