Elizabeth M. McGrath, 85 years young, departed this life on January 23, 2021. Elizabeth, Betty, was born in Greenwich, Connecticut where she grew up and resided until she married Richard S. McGrath, who pre-deceased her, moving to Dutchess County New York in 1957, where Betty resided for the rest of her life.
Betty is the daughter of Francis and Emma (Babcock) Moran. Richard Moran, Harold Moran, John Moran, and pre-deceased Joseph Moran were Betty’s brothers making her the only female in the family. The extended family grew with Betty having many nieces and nephews.
Richard McGrath (Dick) and Betty raised four children of their own, Kenneth McGrath, Colleen Janicik, Linda Kiene, and Patrick McGrath. Being a tight knit family all of Betty and Dick’s children reside in Dutchess County where they raised their children: Michael McGrath, Jeffrey McGrath, pre-deceased Brian McGrath, Heather Farrat, Daniel McGrath, Clifford Janicik, and pre-deceased Sean Janicik. Betty was blessed with great grandchildren: Scarlett Farrat, Colin Janicik, and Cora Jean who will be born in February.
Betty spent her later years with her friend and companion who survives her.
Betty took great pride in her home and her appearance. She loved growing a flower garden every spring.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 9-10:30am at McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 11am at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction followed by interment at St. Denis Cemetery. The Funeral Mass will be livestreamed via the funeral home website for those unable to attend.
