Obituary for Thomas Francis Russell Jr.

COLD SPRING – Thomas F. Russell, Jr., a lifelong local area resident, passed away on Monday, February 8, 2021 at New York Presbyterian / Weill Cornell Medical Center. He was 74.

Son of the late Thomas F. and Margaret (Waters) Russell, he was born in Manhattan on August 31, 1946. Thomas was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served during the Vietnam era. He served as a driver for ranking members as they visited military bases.

For 35 years, he worked as an electrician for Tilcon (formerly Trap Rock, Lonestar) in Wappingers Falls, retiring in 2011. His hobbies included golf and fishing, and he was an overall sports fan. He enjoyed birds, especially hummingbirds. More than anything else, Thomas loved being with his family.

On July 11, 1969, he married Linda S. Niver at St. Joachim Church in Beacon. Linda survives at home in Cold Spring.

Additional survivors include three sons: Thomas Joseph Russell of Cold Spring, Christopher Michael Russell & his wife Kaela of Hopewell Junction, and Patrick John Russell & his wife Shanna of Garrison; his grandchildren, Emily, Kaleigh, Sueanna, Christopher, Daniella, Jonathan, Shaun, Justin, Makaylin, Breannon, and Kevin; his sister, Patricia Marko of North Carolina; his brother, Joseph Russell & his wife Maryanne of Florida; and many nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives & friends.

Thomas was predeceased by his parents as well as his brother, Barney Russell.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 10 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 11 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill. Interment will follow at Cold Spring Cemetery.
